I am getting ready to flush my radiator and put fresh antifreze in for the winter and i was just wonderin if anybody had any tips for me to make this as easy as possible. Thanks

 

You can get one of those kits that include everything you need besides a garden hose and water. You run your truck with their solution in place of coolant and it gets out the crud. Then you drain and rinse with your hose and refill with coolant/water mix.

oh yeah they do sell kits dont they shows how much i pay attention but any way thanks that accutally does help. :pat:

 

dont use tap water to flush out your system, go buy about 4 gallons of distilled water to mix with the flush (use 2 gallons for this) and then drain, and then refill with 2 gallons of distilled run for a few and then drain again and refill with 50/50 coolant

 

make sure to finish with distilled water, but I don't know how you flush it with distilled water, because you use a hose. Also, replace your thermostat while you are in there. I believe it is like a five dollar part and you should pull it out to flush the car anyway.

 

1. you drain the system, retighten drain plug

2. you remove overflow tank and clean it out

3. pour radiator flush in to radiator

4. pour two gallons into radiator

5. replace overflow tank

6. start vehicle and allow it run for 10-15 minutes with the heat on, (if you bought the quick flush)

7. shut off vehicle, drain flush and distilled water out, retighten drain plug

8. refill empty radiator with 2 gallons of distilled water

9. run engine for 15 minutes

10. shut off engine, drain distilled water, retighten drain plug

11. pour 50/50 into radiator and overflow, start truck, turn on heat, allow to run for 20 minutes

12. refill radiator and overflow accordingly


i agree with replacing the thermostat, might as well do it while your in there, real easy
